Sonder2026

---

In Johannesburg’s decaying inner-city hostels, Sonder reveals the unseen bonds between Black Zulu men, where brotherhood, suppressed desire, violence, and the longing for family intersect within spaces shaped by apartheid’s mining legacy.

Within neglected multi-storey hostels, Sonder explores Black Zulu queer masculinities shaped by surveillance, violence, and desire, where fragile performances of masculinity, intimacy, and survival are constantly negotiated.
