Golden Soul is a short documentary that follows French-Caribbean gymnast Mélanie De Jesus Dos Santos in the aftermath of a broken Olympic dream. Through a return to the island she left at a young age for France, the film explores her journey of rebuilding in Martinique, not only as an athlete, but also as a woman. It retraces what feels like a second exile: her departure for the United States, where she spent two years training in Houston alongside Simone Biles in her pursuit of Olympic excellence.
