Star Trek Online's next update, "Rediscovered," launches September 22 with a story built around three temporally displaced versions of Spock — Ethan Peck's Strange New Worlds Lieutenant, Piotr Michael voicing the Star Trek VI-era Captain, and Commander Spock speaking in Leonard Nimoy's own archival dialogue. It's a game update. It's also, quietly, one of the more moving things the franchise has done for its 60th year.

This week's Strange New Worlds episode let Ethan Peck play both Spock and a twisted double of his half-brother Sybok — quietly answering a casting argument from Star Trek V that Leonard Nimoy lost in 1989. Some ideas just need the right vehicle to finally work.
