'Chevron Seven Locked': Winnipeg Comiccon Books an SG-1 Reunion for Halloween Weekend

Winnipeg Comiccon has announced an SG-1 reunion: Richard Dean Anderson joined by Amanda Tapping, Michael Shanks and Lexa Doig for 'Chevron Seven Locked,' a special evening on Saturday, October 31. Here's what the organizers have confirmed and what they haven't.

"Chevron seven, locked." It's the fan slogan of the year, and a Canadian convention just put it on a stage.

Winnipeg Comiccon announced on September 29 that Amanda Tapping (Samantha Carter), Michael Shanks (Daniel Jackson) and Lexa Doig (Dr. Carolyn Lam) are joining Richard Dean Anderson, already on the guest list, for a Stargate SG-1 reunion. It has been sitting in the announcement pile for two weeks, and with the Amazon news dominating the feed, it deserves daylight.

What's been announced

All of this comes from the organizers' own announcement and event pages:

• The event: "Chevron Seven Locked: The SG-1 Reunion Special Event," Saturday, October 31, at 7:30 PM at the RBC Convention Centre, 375 York Avenue, Winnipeg. Tickets start at $30 and go through a separate ticketing link from the convention's main tickets.
• The format: the organizers describe a moderated discussion about the legacy of the series and the bond between cast, crew and fans, plus audience questions, billed as "a special evening of stories from the SGC, behind-the-scenes memories, and adventures spanning countless worlds." The listed participants are Jack O'Neill, Samantha Carter, Daniel Jackson and Dr. Carolyn Lam.
• The weekend: the convention runs October 30 to November 1. The homepage lists Anderson as Guest of Honour and Tapping, Shanks and Doig as featured guests.
• The convention extras: the three new guests are billed to meet fans, sign autographs, do photo ops and appear on stage for a 45-minute conversation. Autograph and photo-op prices and times had not been published when I looked.

Why this one matters

Four of the cast on one stage is not unheard of: Anderson, Tapping, Shanks and Doig were all billed for Starfury's Ascension in Birmingham at the end of August. But that was an ocean away. Winnipeg is a North American date, which matters for anyone who couldn't cross the Atlantic. It's also a convention floor rather than a dedicated fan event, so the pricing and the crowd will look different.

And the timing is something. The reunion was announced under the fan slogan for the revival being locked, ten days before news broke that Amazon is developing a new series with Jac Schaeffer. I can't tell you what a panel on October 31 will sound like, but if I were moderating, I know which question would be in my pocket. That's my expectation, not a report.

The usual caveats

Guest appearances at fan conventions always depend on the actors' availability, as GateWorld has noted before. And this is the organizer's announcement, so check the official ticketing page before booking travel, particularly for times and prices of the individual autograph and photo-op sessions, which were still to come.

Teal'c fans will notice one name missing from the list. I'm not reading anything into that: no one has said it's anything more than a guest list.
