Shanks, Cruz and Read Complete the 2027 Lincoln Stargate Con — and Only 250 Fans Get In
Table of Contents
A small English Stargate convention just filled out its April 2027 guest list: Michael Shanks, Alexis Cruz, Andrew Jackson and Dial the Gate's David Read. The twist is the design — it's capped at roughly 250 people, which in a year of petitions and banner planes feels like the right-sized answer to Amazon's silence.
While the studio side of Stargate stays frozen, the fan side keeps booking venues. The organizers behind Follow The Yellow Gate Road (Take Four) have completed the guest list for their April 17–18, 2027 weekend in Lincoln, UK: Michael Shanks, Alexis Cruz and David Read join Andrew Jackson, who was revealed as the first guest back on June 20. The completed lineup was reported on September 9.
Who's Actually Coming
Four names, deliberately capped at four. Per the organizer's own page and the fan site stargate-project.de's coverage:
- Michael Shanks — Dr. Daniel Jackson, listed as the headliner. The organizer's note on his entry reads "Send tissues for this one," which tells you what kind of weekend they expect it to be.
- Alexis Cruz — Skaara and Klorel from Stargate SG-1, the Abydonian teen Daniel bonded with, and the Goa'uld Klorel who took him as a host.
- Andrew Jackson — Per'sus, the Tok'ra High Council member from "Summit," who's also slated to perform music during the Saturday evening program.
- David Read — Dial the Gate's host, serving as Master of Ceremonies.
That last name is the one worth noticing. Read is the same person co-hosting Shanks's SG-1 podcast, A Full Circle, which launches October 17 — I covered the name reveal last month. By April, that show should have months of episodes behind it, so the Lincoln weekend doubles as a live, in-person extension of it, with both hosts in the same ballroom.
The Format Is the Point
This is not a convention-center autograph factory. The organizers describe it as small and fan-first: never more than 250 people, a Saturday-night hot buffet with entertainment (stargate-project.de mentions a disco), and what they call "genuine quality time with the guests." Weekend tickets cover the programming; autograph and photo sessions are separate, paid for in cash. The venue is the Best Western Plus Bentley Hotel & Spa in Lincoln.
At the time the first guest was announced in June, the top ticket tiers had already sold out. I can't tell you what's left now — the organizer's page simply says tickets are on sale — so anyone eyeing it should check there directly rather than trust my snapshot.
Why It Lands the Way It Does
Compare the scales. Starfury's Ascension 2 brought Richard Dean Anderson, Teryl Rothery, Corin Nemec and Shanks to a Birmingham hotel in August. Rose City Comic Con gathered six original SG-1 and Atlantis cast members in Portland. Starfury's own site already lists Ascension 3 for September 17–19, 2027 in Birmingham, with guest slots still showing "to be announced." And then there's a Lincoln hotel ballroom with a cap of 250, where the people who made SG-1 will sit close enough to talk to you.
None of this reverses an Amazon decision, and I'm not going to pretend otherwise. But for a franchise whose studio has now gone months without an official word on what comes next, the convention calendar is becoming the most reliable place to see Stargate actually being made — by people who turn up, in rooms they can fill. A fandom that's booked through April 2027 isn't waiting for permission.
