Starfury Books Ascension 3 for September 2027 — Before Naming a Single Guest

Birmingham's Hilton Metropole is already booked for a third Starfury: Ascension on September 17–19, 2027. Tickets are priced, the guest slots still read "to be announced," and that's the whole story so far — which is itself a pretty good signal about how much demand the organizers expect.

Ascension 2 only wrapped on August 30, and the organizers are already pointing at the next one. Starfury Conventions' own Ascension page now lists Starfury: Ascension 3 for September 17–19, 2027 at the Hilton Metropole Hotel in Birmingham — the same venue as this year's edition.

What's Actually Announced

Less than you might hope, so here is exactly what the page says:

  • Dates and venue: September 17–19, 2027, Hilton Metropole, Birmingham.
  • Tickets: a Gold ticket at £285 and a Regular ticket at £135, both covering all three days. The Gold tier is described as including the opening and closing ceremonies, Q&A sessions, evening parties, free autographs and priority seating.
  • Guests: none. The page shows five "to be announced" placeholders where the lineup will go.
  • Hotel rooms: not yet bookable, according to the page.

I couldn't find a dated announcement or a trade-press write-up of the booking, so I can't tell you exactly when it went up — only that it's live on the organizer's site as of this week. Treat the guest list as genuinely open.

The Pattern Behind It

Starfury's Stargate events have now settled into a rhythm. Ascension ran May 23–25, 2025 near Heathrow, headlined by Richard Dean Anderson and Michael Shanks. Ascension 2 followed on August 28–30, 2026 in Birmingham, with Anderson, Teryl Rothery, Corin Nemec, Shanks and Lexa Doig on the guest roster — and it's where the details of the cancelled Amazon series started coming out. Ascension 3 puts the next edition about a year after the last one.

That cadence matters more than the placeholders. Conventions don't book a three-day hotel block, publish two ticket tiers and open sales a year out unless the last one told them people will come. The fan-run side of this franchise — a Lincoln event capped at 250 people, an all-women Australian weekend, now a third Birmingham Ascension — keeps scheduling itself further into 2027 while the studio side stays silent.

What to Watch

The interesting question is who fills those five slots. The first Ascension was anchored by Anderson and Shanks, the second by Anderson, Rothery, Nemec, Shanks and Doig, and the third is still a row of empty frames. Nothing is confirmed, and I won't guess names as if it were. When the first guest is announced, that's the story. Until then, mark September 17–19, 2027 if you're a Stargate SG-1 fan within reach of Birmingham.
