Four new series land in four consecutive days this week, and every single one of them uses a different release model. That is the actual story here. Forget "what's good" for a second — you cannot plan a week around four shows until you know whether each one gives you four episodes, one episode, or the whole season in your lap.

So here is the schedule, the episode math, and where your actual free hours should go. 🍿

Monday — Colisión (HBO Max): the one you cannot binge-strategize

HBO Max's first Mexican Max Original novela dropped today, and it does not play by streaming rules at all. Thirty-nine episodes. Four of them today, then five every Monday after that: September 14, 21, 28, October 5, 12, 19, and the last batch of five on October 26.

Read that again. Five episodes a week, for seven weeks. That is not a prestige drip, that is a telenovela pace, because it is a telenovela — Telemundo Studios made it, Macarena Achaga plays Zoé, Margarita Rosa de Francisco is on the other side of the family war over a business empire after a fatal crash. They shot it over 14 weeks across more than 165 real locations in Mexico and London.

Here is the thing my whole binge brain had to recalibrate on: there is no "catch up this weekend" for this show. By the end of September you are nineteen episodes deep whether you like it or not. Either you commit to Monday as a Colisión night, or you wait until late October and inhale all 39 at once. Do not try to live in the middle. The middle is where shows go to sit unwatched in your Continue Watching row until you feel guilty enough to delete the profile.

Queue priority: high, but only if you pick a lane now.

Tuesday — The Drop: A Snowfall Saga (FX + Hulu): the prep-watch trap

Eight episodes, weekly, premiering Tuesday, September 8 at 9pm ET / 6pm PT — on FX and Hulu the same day, which is the good version of an FX rollout and not the "streams the next day" thing you might be bracing for. Gail Bean is back as Wanda Bell, Isaiah John is back as Leon Simmons, and Quincy Chad returns too, all of them in 1990s Los Angeles as West Coast rap rises out of the wreckage.

Now the part nobody wants to say out loud. Somebody is going to tell you to "catch up on Snowfall first." Snowfall ran six seasons and 60 episodes, from July 2017 to April 2023, and yes, all of it is sitting right there on Hulu. You have one day. You are not doing 60 episodes in one day. Nobody is doing 60 episodes in one day.

So the honest version: you do not need the full re-watch. This is a continuation following two specific survivors, not a sequel that quizzes you on season 3 plot mechanics. If you want a runway, watch the back half of the final season and call it done. If you have genuinely never touched Snowfall — start it anyway, but start it as its own long project, not as homework due Tuesday. Weekly release is actually a gift here: eight weeks of one-episode nights is exactly enough slack to work through the back catalogue in parallel.

Queue priority: highest of the week. Weekly, so it costs you one night, not a weekend.

Wednesday — The Paper Season 2 (Peacock): the drop nobody put on your radar

This is the one that got left off basically every "this week in streaming" list I read, including ours on Monday, and it is genuinely the most binge-shaped thing on the calendar. The Paper comes back Wednesday, September 9, with all 10 episodes at once — a real full-season drop, same episode count as season one.

The Office spinoff at the Toledo Truth Teller picks up after the staff swept the Ohio Journalism Awards, with Ned hunting for a crusade big enough to justify the trophy — he goes after a local private club and puts the paper at risk — while he and Mare circle whatever is happening between them and Esmeralda tries to figure out where she fits.

A full-season comedy drop is the most efficient thing in your queue by a mile. Ten episodes of workplace sitcom is the format that survives being watched while you fold laundry, and unlike everything else this week, it will still be entirely there next Saturday if this week gets away from you. Nothing to schedule, nothing to keep up with.

Queue priority: high, and the easiest yes on the list.

Thursday — Crew Girl (Netflix): the actual one-sitting binge

Here is your weekend, mathematically. Crew Girl hits Netflix globally on Thursday, September 10: eight episodes, 44 minutes each. That is 352 minutes. Five hours and 52 minutes, start to finish.

That is a Saturday. That is one Saturday, with a lunch break in the middle, and you are done and have opinions before anyone else has finished episode three.

Miku Martineau plays Teagan Tao, sixteen, moved to the East Coast after a family scandal and landing at Easton Prep to restart her career as a single sculler — except there is no girls' team, so her only way back onto the water is the cox's seat of a boys' varsity crew that does not want her. Sam Braun and Kyle Clark co-star; Vivian Lin created and showruns.

Eight-episode YA seasons at 44 minutes are the platonic ideal of the format — long enough to actually build a rivalry, short enough that it cannot sag in the middle the way a 13-episode order always does.

Queue priority: high. This is the one to block out actual hours for.

The Plan

If you want this handed to you as a calendar instead of a list:

• Monday night: Colisión episodes 1–4, and decide right now whether you are a Monday-night-novela person. If not, skip until October 26 and take all 39 in one run.
• Tuesday, 9pm: The Drop. One episode. Repeat weekly for eight weeks. Lowest-effort commitment of the week.
• Wednesday through Friday, low-attention hours: The Paper season 2 in chunks. It is not going anywhere, and it is the only thing here you can pause for a week without consequences.
• Saturday: Crew Girl, all eight, 5h52m, one sitting. This is the binge.
• Sunday: Snowfall back catalogue if The Drop got its hooks in you. Not to catch up. Just because you want to.

The honest disclaimer

One thing I am not going to do this week: pretend I have seen these. Colisión is the only one out as I write this. The Drop, The Paper and Crew Girl land Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Everything above is queue priority — episode counts, runtimes, release cadence, how much of your week each one costs — not a verdict. The verdicts come after they air, and I will absolutely tell you if Crew Girl blows its landing.
